JKU Graduates Presented with the Benedictus Award

Together with the Benedictine Abbey of Lambach, the Institute for Controlling & Consulting awarded the first-ever Benedictus Award in July.

Applications for the award were open to graduates under the age of 35 who had submitted a thesis between 2019 and 2022 focusing on the church and business, theology with a focus on the Benedictine Order, or in other theological fields. Abbot Maximlian Neulinger, Prof. Birgit Feldbauer-Durstmüller, and Dean Helmut Pernsteiner presented the award during a stately ceremony during the workshop titled "Wirtschaft und monastisches Leben" organized by the JKU institute together with the monastery in Lambach. The award winners were selected from among several applicants. Mag. Sarah Pieslinger, BA, B.Rel.Ed.Univ., MA was presented with an award for her thesis about the meaning of an everyday and prayer spirituality and using the example by spiritual mentor David Steindl-Rast. Mag. Rebecca Schiffer, BSc was also presented with an award for her academic work focusing on accounting and controlling systems used by monasteries.
