We spoke with the 23-year-old Eferding native about his studies at the JKU and why he is so passionate about breaking.

How did you get into breaking?
Stefan Buchroithner: I was always an energetic teenager and loved sports. As I also love music, I started breaking at the "Kreaktiv" dance school in Eferding and later in 2013 I took urban dance classes.

What do you find particularly exciting about this sport?
Stefan Buchroithner: Aside from the style of music, I just like the freedom I have when breaking. There is a certain vocabulary, or so-called basics, which you first learn and then change on an individual basis. The moves are very demanding and breaking is a combination of art and sports.

What is your major at the JKU?
Stefan Buchroithner: I am currently enrolled in the JKU’s Bachelor's degree program in Social Economics.

How do you like studying at the JKU?
Stefan Buchroithner: Thanks to what I learned at the commercial academy and my general interest in our society, this degree program is ideal for me.

What's next for you?
Stefan Buchroithner: Breaking is my passion and I not only love doing it, but teaching as well. I am very proud of two students of mine who placed first in the "Junior" categories!
