Online Presentation by Franziska Saxler: "Why Didn't You Just Say No?"

As part of the UN's “Orange the World: 16 Days to End Violence Against Women and Girls” campaign, we are pleased to host an online presentation on the topic of sexualized violence/harassment at universities. The presentation has been organized by the inter-university network Genderplattform.

[Translate to Englisch:] Buchcover Saxler - Er hat dich noch nicht mal angefasst

Held as both an online presentation and workshop, Franziska Saxler will introduce her #metooscience network and provide insight into research findings on prevalence, psychological mechanisms and perpetuating factors of harassment in academia. Participants will learn how to identify harassment sooner to better protect themselves and be able to intervene as an ally where necessary. Depending on the number of participants, participants will also actively engage in discussions about the status quo of #metoo in academia.

During the presentation, members from the AwA* awareness team will be available to provide support. The awareness team members will arrange an online retreat space and give participants telephone numbers to reach them by phone during the presentation.

About AwA*:

AwA* (pronounced: AwA Stern) is a collective of women, trans, queer and inter* individuals who support presentations, etc., who support events, carry out educational activities, devise concepts, and provide spaces, groups and institutions with advisory services. We are committed to advocating emancipatory safety and related issues. We believe awareness means being mindful and conscious of how we treat each other and preventing discrimination, assaults and (sexualized) violence. Awareness means focusing on an individual's well-being if they have been affected by discriminatory, abusive or transgressive behavior. This goes in hand with partisan support, providing the individual affected wishes to take advantage of support services so that no one is alone in facing the consequences of discrimination and (sexualized) violence. We work towards creating a society where everyone is treated with respect and solidarity.
