Invitation to a talk by Sara Hassan, followed by a discussion.
The abuse of power is an inherently intersectional issue. The people who are targeted and the people who can abuse their power are tied by existing social structures of inequality and forms of discrimination. How do different forms of discrimination collude when affecting people in marginalized positions, and how do those in positions of power leverage their position to protect themselves, involve their surroundings in their logic, and create situations that can become an existential struggle for the victims?
The talk "Patterns of the Abuse of Power" intends to offer an intersectional perspective on a complex issue by drawing attention to inequality, the precariat, and discrimination. During the presentation, participants will be introduced to the main components of power abuse through a case study designed specifically for this purpose aiming to equip them with the means for identifying these patterns and structures in their everyday lives.
