WeFair Day

Everyone is talking about sustainability but is anyone actually wearing it? As part of a build-up to the upcoming WeFair event from October 29-31, 2021, the JKU is hosting a preview exchange tips (and clothes!!).

As individuals we can't save the world but we can each do our part to make it better. Together we can do our small part to save the Earth for future generations as well as the plants and animals that share this planet with us.

WeFair, formerly known as WearFair +mehr, is Austria's largest sustainability fair. The fair will take place this year between October 29 - 31, 2021, at the Linz Design Center. Click here, opens an external URL in a new window to learn more.

To kick things off, in cooperation with the Climate Allicance of Upper Austria, the JKU would like to extend an invitation to take part in a day focusing on sustainability: organic food, information, and a clothes swap.

JKU employees can visit WeFair Day for one hour during work hours!

Clothes Make the (Wo)Man - Many Times Over

Is it time to clean out your closet? Perfect! Why not help others- and treat yourself in the process! How? Just bring up to ten items of clothing in good condition and drop it all off at the clothes swap. You will get markers that you can use to 'swap' for other items of clothing. Sounds easy? It is. Just join in!!

Any leftover items of clothing will be donated to Volkshilfe and help those in need.

This is how it will work:

  • Take a look at home and see if you have any women's and men's clothing, shoes, bags, or scarves in very good condition. Please note that uur check-in team will be keeping an eye out for garments that are not in good condition. You will have to take back any garments in poor condition or you can put them right into a donation box.
  • Each person can bring a maximum of 10 items. These will be hung up and displayed nicely.
  • You will get a marker for each item of clothing that is accepted. Use the marker toward picking out a 'new' item of clothing.
  • Nothing is standing in the way of the event now - everything in the temporary swap boutique is now available. Once you have picked something out, you can swap the marker for that item.
  • Any items of clothing and other things remaining after the clothes swap will be donated to Volkshilfe.
