Primetals Technologies, opens an external URL in a new window was founded on January 7, 2015, as a joint venture of Siemens, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, and partners. The company’s solutions are based on over 60 years of innovation in the field of metals production. Both of their predecessor enterprises, Mitsubishi-Hitachi Metals Machinery and Siemens VAI, have contributed greatly to the comprehensive, state-of-the-art portfolio that the company proudly has at its disposal. In early 2020, full ownership of Primetals Technologies was transferred to Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and partners. As a globally active steel-plant builder, Primetals Technologies continues to pioneer the future of metals.

The goal for our cooperation with Primetals Technologies is to conduct applied basic research focusing on methodological support for dealing with variability in cyber-physical production systems.
