If you wish to enroll in an English-language degree program, you must provide proof of language proficiency in English.
In order to enroll in certain academic degree programs, prospective applicants must show proof of language proficiency at a certain level. The certificates/diplomas accepted by the JKU as proof of language proficiency are listed below.
At the time of application, your language certificate must not be older than 2 years and, if possible, digitally verifiable.
This does not apply to school-leaving certificates.
Overview of Accepted Proof of Language Proficiency
English Level B2
- Passing grade in English in an annual report card preceding final school-leaving certificates or on the school-leaving certificate (such as a "Matura" or "Abitur") issued by an educational institution in the EU, EEA, or Switzerland only
- An IB diploma awarded in accordance with the rules of the "International Baccalaureate Organization" with english as
- Language A with a minimum grade of 4 or
- Language B with a minimum grade of 5 (HL) or 6 (SL)
- Completed studies in English (at least 4 semester) at a recognized post-secondary educational institution within the EU, the EEA or Switzerland
- TOEFL iBT 79
- IELTS (general or academic) 6.0
- Cambridge English: First (FCE-B2), CAE (Certificate in Advanced English), CPE (Certificate of Proficiency in English), BEC Higher (Business English Certificate Higher)
- PTE Academic 62
English Level C1
- Passing grade in English in an annual report card preceding final school-leaving certificates or on the school-leaving certificate (such as a "Matura" or "Abitur") issued by an educational institution recognized in the EU, EEA, or Switzerland
- An IB diploma awarded in accordance with the rules of the "International Baccalaureate Organization" with english as
