Introducing new learning and digital transformation in university education: Apply now for the new PhD program “Digital Transformation in Learning” and use AI and new digital aids to take university education and learning to a whole new level! This is a truly unique partnership between the JKU and the IT:U.
The program is under the leadership and direction of two distinguished professors: Assistant Professor Sebastian Dennerlein, and JKU Professor Markus Hohenwarter, and - as part of a partnership between the JKU PhD program in Education and the IT:U - concludes with a PhD. Markus Hohenwarter is a professor at the JKU Linz School of Education and, among other things, creator of the dynamic geometry software GeoGebra. Sebastian Dennerlein most recently conducted research and taught at the Institute for Educational Science and Technologies at the University of Twente (Netherlands) and is considered one of Europe's leading minds in "new learning" and the digital transformation of education.
As a PhD candidate, your research will be supervised by an interdisciplinary team of faculty members at both universities, allowing you to leverage the benefits and infrastructure provided by a shared university campus. As a result, Linz's university landscape will become a key hub in support of innovation and eductional development within higher education.
The IT:U is looking to fill up to 5 full-time, 4-year PhD positions in Linz. We are looking for highly motivated and qualified candidates.

Prerequisites
To be eligible to enroll in the IT:U PhD program, applicants must hold a degree in a field related to their intended research project and that is equivalent to a Master's degree. Potential topics include:

- AI's impact on curricular structure
Regardless of your prior academic background - be it psychology, computer science or medicine - your interest in active learning is what counts! We are looking for inquisitive minds and candidates who are highly interested in conducting interdisciplinary research, are fluent in English, and have a strong background in academic writing.
The IT:U is looking to fill five, full-time, 4-year PhD positions on-site in Linz.
