The Department of Equality, Equitable Opportunities Diversity focuses on the advancement of women as well as supporting equal opportunities, inclusion, identifying and removing barriers, diversity, and work/life balance.
Gender equality is considered a university-wide responsibility at the JKU. As a department, our mission is making that responsibility more tangible as well as supporting university management in fulfilling its legal responsibilities and adhering to legal regulations:
- Based on regular monitoring, we are continuously updating and improving measures to support the advancement of women. We are creating new measures to meet the targets as outlined in the Plan for the Advancement of Women that includes a 40% proportion of women in all areas.
- We are expanding the systematic advancement of women to not only include an intersectional approach, but also actively striving towards inclusion and diversity.
- As part of a dynamic approach, we are responding to national and EU requirements relating to gender equality, equal opportunities, and diversity, incorporating these into the foundations of our strategy to remain a modern research institution able to successfully compete for funding in the future.
Aside from these fundamental aspects, we are also working on conceptualizing and implementing intersectional approaches in an effort to counteract discrimination, facilitate more balanced participation, and actively remove barriers. We at the JKU not only have space to accommodate our members' diverse lives, but also actively acknowledge and value them.
