Dr. Yolanda Salinas (Institute of Polymer Chemistry at the JKU) was presented with her venia legendi/habilitation certificate in the subject area of "Polymer Chemistry and Materials Chemistry". Her dissertation titled "Hybrid Functional Organic-Inorganic Materials for Nanomedicine and Optoelectronics " focuses on developing sustainable, degradable organosilica-based nanomaterials for medical applications as well as the preparation and fine-tuning of hybrid organic-inorganic lead halide perovskites as highly luminescent ionic semiconductor nanoparticles to be used for optoelectronic and photonic devices.

Those pursuing a habilitation/post-doc undergo an academic evaluation in regard to special qualifications that proves their ability to independently conduct academic/scientific research and teach the entire depth and breadth of their selected subject area [facultas docendi], This, in turn, is the prerequisite to grant authorization to teach that particular subject area [venia legendi].

About Yolanda Salinas

Yolanda Salinas Soler, a graduate in chemical engineering at the University of Valencia (Spain) in 2008, earned her Ph.D. in Chemistry at the Polytechnic University of Valencia in 2013. In 2014, her summa cum laude PhD dissertation was also presented with an International Mention and PhD Dissertation Extraordinary Award in recognition of outstanding work. Salinas joined the JKU as an assistant professor as part of Prof. Brüggemann's team at the Institute of Polymer Chemistry (ICP) in 2015. To date, she has published 30 peer-reviewed articles in renowned chemistry and materials journals, is currently guest editor of several special issues, and over the past three years, she has been invited as a keynote speaker at numerous worldwide conferences, international workshops, and symposia.
