In medical studies, paediatrics and adolescent medicine is mainly taught in the 7th semester in the life cycle module, but partial aspects are also taught in other modules. Further information can be found here: Studienhandbuch, opens an external URL in a new window
In addition, electives are offered to specialise in the specialist areas of paediatrics and adolescent medicine. Further information can be found at the Department for Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, opens an external URL in a new window.
Further, we supervise Bachelor's and Master's students with translational and clinical research projects. The part-time PhD/Dr. med.Sci programme is also a Linz success story.

What is important to us in pediatrics for you as a medical student:
- Be welcomed and feel included in a multi-professional team that cares about the health of children.
- Buddy system: Every medical student is assigned an assistant doctor as a buddy who will accompany you during your practical training and answer all your questions.
- Every single employee, whether doctor, nurse or therapist, acts as a role model when dealing with children and young people and should inspire you during your training.
- We encourage you to ask lots of questions.
- You will have the opportunity to see and examine children of all ages (from critically ill newborns/premature infants to adolescents).
