After completing your first compulsory internship, you will have the opportunity to work as a student employee at the Department of Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine at the Kepler University Hospital to support doctors in their day-to-day clinical work. As a university clinic, our mission is to care for children with chronic and rare diseases. You will be assigned to one of these specialist areas (neurology, endocrinology, oncology, gastroenterology, nephrology) and, as a team member, you will look after both outpatient and inpatient children and also support the medical team in dealing with scientific questions.

As part of your KPJ, you can spend up to 12 weeks at the Department of Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine at the Kepler University Hospital.

You will complete 4 weeks of pediatric and adolescent medicine as an elective subject, and a further 8 weeks are freely selectable for you.

The buddy system (an assistant doctor will be at your side throughout your training) gives you the opportunity to be there live during exciting examinations/interventions on children, whether intrathecal chemotherapy for leukemia patients or intraoperative EEG. You choose what you want to see. You also have the opportunity to accompany an after-hours service or to shift your duty hours in the emergency room to the evening hours.
