Student Challenge

During the 2025 EC2U Forum in Coimbra, participants will engage in a Student Challenge. Teams will work on one of the following key topics:

Renewable and affordable energy solutions

In line with the UN Agenda 2030 and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), this topic focuses on addressing Europe's energy crisis by exploring how universities and students can contribute to developing renewable and affordable energy solutions.

How to cope with eco-anxiety?

Eco-anxiety stems from concerns about climate change and ecological degradation, often resulting in stress and mental health challenges. This topic explores strategies on how to cope with eco-anxiety in academia, such as fostering education and promoting active participation in climate efforts.

Ideas for sustainable and clean city transportation

This topic focuses on how cities can create sustainable and inclusive transportation systems. Students not only explore creative solutions to promote greener mobility options, but also the role of universities and cities in making transportation more eco-friendly.

Raising each individual's awareness about their role in helping the earth

This topic emphasizes how important individual and collective actions are when promoting sustainability. Students will talk about how they can lead initiatives within their universities and communities to raise awareness and foster a sense of environmental responsibility.

The role of arts, media, and communication

Arts, media, and communication play a vital role in shaping public perception and inspiring action for sustainability. This subtopic invites students to explore how creative expression can foster more engagement and encourage active citizenship to support sustainable actions.

Creating green spaces where students can address sustainability challenges

This topic addresses the challenges urban environments face - such as pollution and loss of biodiversity - and examines how developing green spaces can improve students' well-being while promoting ecological benefits, including better air quality and enhanced biodiversity.

These topics will provide a foundation for group work, allowing you to work together with peers and create innovative solutions. The Forum is an opportunity to apply your creativity, expertise, and passion to support sustainability.
