Join our students guides for an extensive overview of the JKU campus and learn more about the university’s history and architecture! You will learn how the university came about, how the JKU has grown and evolved over the years, and just what makes this university Upper Austria’s leading educational institution.

    • Description: Start your week in Linz off with an extensive tour of the JKU campus and learn more about the university's history as well as general information about the university's research and facilities
  2. Monday, October 21, 2:15 PM – 3:45 PM

    • Open to: Forum participants who have a break between sessions.
    • Meeting point: The Plaza in front of the Main Campus Library.
    • Description: An extensive tour of the JKU campus, ideal for those who have some time in between the Mobility Fair and their next meeting.
  3. Monday, October 21, 4:15 PM – 5:45 PM

    • Open to: Forum participants who have finished their respective meetings by 4:00 PM.
    • Meeting point: The Plaza in front of the Main Campus Library.
    • Description: End your day with a more relaxed tour of the JKU campus.

    • Open to: Everyone, particularly Plenary Council participants.

JKU Project Tours.

Forum participants interested in learning more about the JKU’s cutting-edge research and innovative projects are invited to take part in our JKU Project Tours.     • Open to: Annyone interested in polymer recycling and industrial technology.
    • Meeting point: The Plaza in front of the Main Campus Library.
    • Description: An insightful, exclusive tour of the LIT Factory with Prof. Jörg Fischer (one of WP6 representatives) and Dr. Klaus Straka, a cutting-edge hub designed to support research and innovation at the Johannes Kepler University Linz. Learn more about how our university is at the forefront of sustainable practices and industrial partnerships.
  2. Monday, October 21, 2:15 – 3:45 PM : Chemistry in Action: Exploring JKU's Cutting-Edge Labs

    • Open to: Chemistry enthusiasts.
    • Meeting point: The Plaza in front of the Main Campus Library.
    • Description: An engaging 90-minute tour of Johannes Kepler University's state-of-the-art chemistry labs, planned by Prof. Andrei Mardare (one of WP4 representatives). This tour will take you through three key institutes: Chemical Technology of Inorganic Materials, Chemical Technology of Organic Materials, and the Institute of Polymer Chemistry. Discover the innovative research and groundbreaking technologies being developed in these labs, meet our expert scientists, and gain insights into the fascinating world of chemical technology. Whether you're a chemistry enthusiast or just curious about the scientific advancements at JKU, this tour offers a unique opportunity to explore the heart of our research efforts.

    Join an insightful tour of the Institute of Chemical Technology of Inorganic Materials at JKU. This visit will immerse you in the advanced research facilities where groundbreaking work on inorganic materials, including ceramics, composites, and metal oxides, is conducted.

    Discover the world of organic materials at the Institute for Chemical Technology of Organic Materials at JKU. This tour will guide you through state-of-the-art laboratories where cutting-edge research on polymers, advanced materials, and sustainable chemical processes takes place.

    At the Institute of Polymer Chemistry, you will gain insights into projects that deal with basic research on the one hand and applied, industry-related projects on the other. These include topics such as the design of novel polymer materials with new mechanical and thermal properties, the development of customized drug carriers for the targeted treatment of diseases, the synthesis of novel inks for 3D printing of medical implants, and biomimetic approaches to create new functional polymers.

  4. Tuesday, October 22, 11:00 AM – 12:30 AM:  Hidden Places

    • Open to: Communication Officers and Local Coordinators.
    • Meeting point: The JKU Somnium
    • Description: Following the session for Communication Officers, Gregor Pechmann will take you on a tour of the JKU's hidden gems, followed by lunch at the university cafeteria, popularly referred to as the “Mensa”
  5. Tuesday, October 22, 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM: Tour of the Kepler Hall

    • Open to: Those interested in learning more about the University Sports Institute and and try out some mini activities.
    • Meeting point: Kepler Hall.
    • Description: TBD
  6. Wednesday, October 23, 2:00 PM – 3:30 PM: the JKU’s medical (MED) campus tour (not at the main campus)

    • Open to: Anyone interested to going to the city and visiting the MED campus located next to the Kepler University Hospital.
    • Meeting point: Courtyard in front of the administration (ADM) building at the MED campus
    • Description: Take a tour to discover a remarkable ensemble of four modern buildings which each have their dedicated function but all serve the common goal to allow a seamless interplay between education, research and healthcare provision.
  7. Wednesday, October 23, 2:00 PM – 3:30 PM: The Frontiers of Physics: Semiconductors and Quantum Materials at the JKU

    • Open to: Physics enthusiasts
    • Meeting point: The Plaza in front of the Main Campus Library.
    • Description: Embark on a captivating 90-minute tour of the Johannes Kepler University's cutting-edge physics facilities at the Institute of Semiconductor and Solid-State Physics, the institute lead by our Vice-Rector for Research and International Affairs, Alberta Bonanni. Learn more about groundbreaking research in semiconductor technologies and solid-state physics. Participants can also visit the Linz Institute of Technology's “Cleanroom”, a state-of-the-art facility focusing on conducting advanced research in nanotechnology and materials science. Meet our leading physicists, explore the high-tech environment where innovative discoveries are made, and get a deeper understanding of physics’ pivotal role in modern technological advancements. This tour is ideal for anyone interested in the dynamic and evolving field of physics.

    Start your day with a combination of relaxation techniques and energy-boosting yoga.

    Join Martin Weiss (head of the University Sports Institute) on a tour of Kepler Hall to learn more about organized sports activities and programs at the JKU, including some opportunities to try out some activities.

  3. Tuesday, October 22, 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM: Explore Health and Well-Being at the JKU

    Join Verena Enzenhofer, the JKU representative of the WP2 Expert Group Inclusive Community, for an insightful session on how JKU supports well-being on campus.

    Discover the occupational health services available to students and employees. Engage in a mix of active and passive exercises designed to benefit your mind, body, and soul. Learn about the various initiatives and resources JKU offers to foster a healthy, inclusive community.

Tuesday, October 22, 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM: Be Our Guest at the JKU's Circus of Knowledge: "JK, Waving in the Dark - Kepler, Inter-viewed"                Astronomer Johannes Kepler, the University of Linz’ namesake, lived in tumultuous times marred by religious conflicts, resulting in the devastating Thirty Years' War. Seeking to bring about peace, the Emperor's court mathematician immersed himself into his theories and wrote The Harmony of the World.
