The Office of Occupational Health and Safety is a central point of contact for university employees in regards to safety, fire protection, and occupational medicine.

The department's main responsibilities include providing consulting and support services to the Central Services departments and JKU institutes:

• Occupational safety issues, including accident prevention
• Assisting when planning workspaces
• Purchase or changing work equipment
• Changes in work procedures
• Introducing working materials
• Ergonomic and industrial hygiene issues
• Workplace design
• Identifying and assessing hazards
• Determining measures to prevent hazards
• Organizing fire protection and first aid services
• Create measures to evacuate buildings in emergency situations
