Raul Sánchez-Prieto, Vice-Rector for International Affairs at the University of Salamanca (Spain) and head of the Department of Modern Philology as well as a professor of German and Dutch Linguistics, heads the EC2U Work Package on educational quality, in which the JKU is also involved.

After a warm welcome by the JKU’s local coordinators, Andrea Steiner-Cardell and Adriana Estrada, the agenda included meetings with JKU Professor Zoltan Major (who is involved with the Work Package for Sustainable Cities and Communities), and Zeynep Topdemir, a university assistant at the Department of STEM Didactics and representative of the Work Package for Quality Education.

Prof. Sánchez-Prieto also spoke with Prof. Claudio Biscaro, head of the WP8 Work Package and doctorate training subcommittee coordinator, to also talk about plans to create a joint virtual institute (which will be held here in Linz during the EC²U Forum in October, opens an external URL in a new window), as well as other potential collaboration efforts.

Planned joint activities include
- The joint Master's degree program (JMP) for European Languages, Cultures and Societies
- The Virtual Institute for Quality Education (VIQE), focusing on research and innovation as well as transformative R&I projects.

The visit concluded with a special guided tour of the JKU MED Campus conducted by JKU social media manager, Gregor Pechmann, giving our Spanish guest an in-depth look at our state-of-the-art medical facilities and educational initiatives.

The visit not only strengthened the strong partnership between the JKU and the University of Salamanca, but also reinforced both of our shared commitments to advancing quality education through collaborative efforts and innovation.
