Univ. Prof. Dr. Cornelia Roschger is a professor of pathomechanisms and innovative treatment options in cardiac surgery at the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery.
What is your tenure track professorship about?
Univ. Prof. Dr. Cornelia Roschger: The Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery's research laboratory and the tenure-track professorship position focus on conducting research into pathophysiological mechanisms and new treatment approaches relating to cardiovascular disorders and bronchial carcinoma. The research focuses on developing advanced treatments and innovative approaches based on a mechanistic understanding of the particular condition. Additional research approaches include identifying predictive, early detection markers, determining minimally invasive disease progression, and monitoring of therapy success.

What do you hope to accomplish?
Univ. Prof. Dr. Cornelia Roschger: I would like to bring base-knowledge research, clinical studies, and the different institutes at the JKU together and utilize the resulting research findings to benefit patients. In the field of education, I would like to not only strengthen academic excellence by applying an interdisciplinary approach in the classroom, but also support the Faculty of Medicine on the road to a bright future.
