The Center for Medical Research is a central service at the JKU Faculty of Medicine, providing our scientists with ideal conditions to conduct biomedical laboratory research.
Our infrastructure was created to support renowned, award-winning researchers. By placing high quality scientific studies and projects in the foreground, JKU scientists and external parties can access and conduct outstanding research.
We aim to not only support the process of exploring new ideas and transposing new expertise in the field of biomedicine, but also developing new, innovative approaches in prevention and treatment to benefit mankind and simultaneously support educating junior researchers to the greatest extent possible.
The new Center for Medical Research provides our researchers with approximately 1500 m² of laboratory space at their disposal. There are currently sixteen research groups and six core facilities (molecular biology and next-generation sequencing, mass spectrometry, histology, biomedical research, imaging and cytometry) working actively in various developmental phases at the CMR. Current fields of research include artificial retinal implants, injections to prevent heart attacks, and much more. An inital set of scientific papers written by CMR researchers has been published in scientific journals and scientific work by junior researchers is ongoing.
