Ultra-low temperature freezer and backup unit (Eppendorf F740hi model) with GLT monitoring.
The Core Facility Biobank serves as infrastructure, providing a central framework for the acquisition and storage of high-quality, project-specific samples from biomedical and clinical research. Responsibilities span from the processes of preparation to controlled storage and the distribution of biological materials, accompanied by the provision of information and data related to the respective biological materials. Together with the cooperation partner Kepler University Hospital, the Core Facility Biobank forms the basis for high quality handling of various biological materials, ranging from tissue and liquid samples to cell populations.
Infrastructure
Cryotank for nitrogen vapor phase and backup unit with GLT monitoring.
CryoPod™ Carrier for the transportation of sample racks in nitrogen vapor phase.
Automatic, professional and fast printing of various sample vials / sample carriers using robust spray technology (e.g. 2 ml Cryovials, histoslides).
Services
- Sample Storage
The Core Facility Biobank has alarm-monitored storage facilities at -80°C and alarm-monitored storage facilities in the gas phase of liquid nitrogen (approx. -190°C). - Sample Preparation
The quality-assured processing and preparation of clinical trial samples prior to biobank storage is one of the services provided by the Core Facility Biobank. - Biobank Consulting and Network
The Core Facility Biobank provides consultations in the preparation and execution of research projects with a biobank focus. As a member of the Austrian Biobanking Network BBMRI.at and the European Biobanking Network BBMRI-ERIC, the Core Facility Biobank serves as a valuable networking platform for all aspects of biobanking.
