The second annual JKU interdisciplinary law Master Class took place on February 20 & 21, 2020 and focused on “Procedural Justice”.

This year’s Master Class guest was Prof.em Dr. Ulrich Schroth (Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich), an experienced (medical) legal expert in criminal law and criminal procedure law as well as in the philosophy and sociology of law. Together with 15 junior academics and researchers from universities in Austria and Germany, he not only discussed fundamental questions about procedural justice, but also provided feedback and commentary on the research projects they presented, in particular.

The participants’ interesting Master Class presentations focused on procedural justice issues in various areas: the main trial, preventive measures in criminal law, the final rescue shot and autonomous driving, as well as sexual and medical criminal law. Prof. Schroths' concluding keynote speech also addressed questions about justice in medical criminal law, highlighting "Securing Autonomy through (Just) Proceedings. Example: Living Organ Donation".

Participants had ample opportunity to network, discuss various issues, visit a museum, and enjoy dinner together at the TeichWerk on campus.
