Vice-Rector Elgin Drda presented surgeon Eva Sames-Dolzer and neurologist Michael Guger with their venia legendi/habilitation certificate.
Eva Sames Dolzer works at the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at the Department of Pediatric Surgery at the Kepler University Hospital. Her post-doctoral thesis is titled: "Die Behandlung von Patienten mit Hypoplastischem Linksherz-Syndrom und grenzwertig großem linken Ventrikel".
Michael Guger is head of the Department of Neurology at the Pyhrn-Eisenwurzen Hospital in Steyr. His habilitation thesis is titled: "Das österreichische Multiple Sklerose Therapie Register und dessen Auswertungen im internationalen Kontext".
Elgin Drda, Vice-Rector for Medicine at the Johannes Kepler University Linz, remarked: "The scientific and academic quality of each dissertation is a testament to both experts’ impressive expertise. Those pursuing a habilitation/post-doc undergo an academic evaluation in regard to special qualifications that proves their ability to independently conduct academic/scientific research and teach the entire depth and breadth of their selected subject area [facultas docendi], This, in turn, is the prerequisite to grant authorization to teach that particular subject area [venia legendi].
About Eva Sames-Dolzer and Michael Guger
Eva Sames-Dolzer studied medicine at the University of Vienna. After graduating, she began her residency in general surgery and cardiac surgery in 1997 at the former AKH Linz. She is now a specialist at the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery.
Michael Guger studied medicine at the University of Innsbruck, earning his doctorate in 2000. After earning his doctorate, he earned his specialist diploma in neurology in 2008. He has served as head of the Department of Neurology at the Pyhrn-Eisenwurzen Clinic in Steyr since August 2021.
