Promotio sub auspiciis Praesidentis rei publicae

We congratulate our former student Clemens Hofstadler to this distinguished honor.

Sub auspiciis VdB

Today, Clemens Hofstadler officially received his doctorate in the presence of federal president Alexander van der Bellen in Vienna. This special honor is awarded to graduates who showed the most excellent performance throughout their entire higher education. Only about 20 students in Austria per year meet these requirements. We are proud that with Clemens Hofstadler, a former student of our institute is now one of them.

Clemens prepared his thesis under the joint supervision of Georg Regensburger and Clemens Raab, who both also received the distinguished honor of a promotio sub auspiciis praesidentis rei publicae when they completed their own Ph.D. studies. The thesis was defended in October 2023 and contains extensions and generalizations of modern algorithms for computing Gröbner bases to the non-commutative setting. These algorithms are used for proving and finding operator identities.
