Funded by an Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) grant, the AIMS (Artificial Intelligence Based Monitoring and Early Warning for Patient Safety) project will improve patient safety using artificial intelligence.

Despite the fact that surgical procedures today are safer than ever before, they still carry a high level of risk for patients. In Europe, on average, 4% of all patients undergoing surgery die in hospital. 2-3% pass away in a normal ward without having been admitted to an ICU. A considerable percentage of these patients die unexpectedly. The AIMS research project will address this issue and seek to improve patient safety.
