Stefan Puttinger and Michael Vierhauser Presented with Their Venia Docendi/Habilitation Certificate

Vice-Rector Alberta Bonanni presented both scholars with their Venia Docendi/Habilitation certificate.

Stefan Puttinger's post-doctoral dissertation was written under the supervision of the JKU's Department of Particulate Flow Modelling. Puttinger’s dissertation titled "Flow Visualization and Data Analysis in Multiphase Fluid Mechanics" focuses on measuring the multiphase flows of liquids, gases, and solid particles, demonstrating that despite strong interaction, using modern methods to perform high-quality measurements both in the lab and at actual industrial plants is possible.

Michael Viehauser, who now works at the University of Innsbruck, earned his post-doctoral qualification at the JKU’s LIT Secure and Correct Systems Lab. His dissertation titled "Runtime Monitoring and Safety Assurance for Cyber-Physical Systems" focuses on runtime monitoring (runtime monitoring and anomaly detection) for cyber-physical systems, specifically drone systems and safety assurance (analyzing critical safety aspects). His research centers around self-adaptive systems and integrating them into human-machine interaction.

Those pursuing a habilitation/post-doc undergo an academic evaluation in regard to special qualifications that proves their ability to independently conduct academic/scientific research and teach the entire depth and breadth of their selected subject area [facultas docendi], This, in turn, is the prerequisite to grant authorization to teach that particular subject area.
