Just Two Days until the Macke Award Finale

Three finalists, one award: The audience will help choose the best physics paper as part of the Macke Award final on September 23.

The three best graduate theses from JKU degree programs in Technical Physics, Nanoscience and Technology, Biophysics, and Teacher Education Studies in Physics have been submitted to a selective jury, namely an audience of school students. The presentations have been designed to be simple, funny, and show that cutting-edge physics is not only incredibly exciting, but can also be explained in a way that everyone can understand it.

Alexander Ebner has succeeded in revolutionizing a versatile spectroscopic analysis technique by using quantum cascade lasers. The new method is 10,000 times brighter and 60,000 times faster than current alternatives, thus opening up new fields of application for industry and research.
