At the 1st Beyond Growth Conference, which took place from 13-15 May 2024 in Vienna in cooperation with the environmental organization GLOBAL 2000, Lukas Cserjan, Theresa Hager, Laura Porak, and Stephan Pühringer held a workshop on “The power of economic thinking: narratives, actors and networks”. After a brief theoretical introduction, the participants discussed socially dominant narratives and the interests behind them. Finally, the workshop participants tried to jointly outline alternative narratives and institutions that are suitable for a socio-ecological transformation.
