Edwin Lughofer ✝ 2023
With great sorrow we have to share the sad news that our colleague Edwing Lughofer has passed away on Monday, June 26, 2023 unexpectedly after a long illness endured with silent patience.
Edwin has been a member of our institute and the Johannes Kepler University Linz for more than 25 years. After joining the newly founded Fuzzy Logic Laboratorium Linz-Hagenberg of Erich Peter Klement in 1997, he soon gained experience in expert- and data-driven fuzzy systems and advanced to a key researcher on evolving fuzzy systems, data stream mining, active learning, classification and clustering, and other machine learning related topics at our institute. His scientific record is exceptional and will continue to have an impact beyond his death.
We shall always remember him as a very dedicated researcher and the unique colleague he has been.
Our sympathy is with his family and all people close to him.
May he rest in peace.
