Studying Statistics & Data Science!
The Bachelor’s degree program “Statistics and Data Science”, taught in German, deals with the collection, processing, organization and management of data, the methodology for its analysis and the communication of results. Technological progress means that more and more information is being collected in more and more areas. This leads to new challenges, especially as modern data is often available in unstructured form. The aim is to provide application-oriented training in methods and to acquire a comprehensive data literacy, which should enable graduates to gain valuable insights from data in their role as statisticians and data scientists. The term "insight" is broadly defined and includes, among other things, forecasts, recognizing correlations and estimating important parameters.
The Master’s degree program “Statistics and Data Science”, taught in English, offers an in-depth scientific education in statistics and data science and builds on a sound education in this field in a previous Bachelor's degree program. Graduates of this Master's degree program are able to manage, visualize and analyze data in complex applications and extract information from data to improve decision-making or gain deeper insights. Thanks to a profound knowledge of the theoretical foundations of statistics and in-depth data skills, graduates are able to develop new statistical methods and apply them to practical problems.

Occupational fields
Wherever data is collected, systematically managed, analyzed and presented on a large scale, there are career opportunities for statisticians and data scientists. The most important areas in which the sought-after graduates of our degree programs find employment are research institutions (in areas such as economics and social sciences, environmental sciences, climate research, medicine, biology, pharmacy, etc.), banks and insurance companies, trade, industry (quality assurance, reliability control, production optimization), in the Internet industry, in consulting, at statistical offices and in market and opinion research.
