The EC2U Alliance Warmly Welcomes Umeå University

Umeå University (Sweden) officially joins the EC2U Alliance in 2025, broadening its outreach and impact.

As part of the EC2U Alliance, the JKU has been an active part of the shared mission to promote research, education, and support social commitment across Europe. Umeå University's membership is an important milestone that will open up new opportunities for collaboration and partnership in the areas of research, innovation, and student mobility.

Umeå University: 38,000 students
Umeå University is one of Sweden's largest universities with over 38,000 enrolled students and approximately 4,600 employees. The university offers a first-rate education in a variety of majors ranging from science and technology to business, health, and the humanities. Umeå University is renowned for conducting outstanding research, including the Nobel Prize-winning gene editing tool, CRISPR-Cas9.

The university's focus on sustainability, academic freedom, and diversity aligns seamlessly with the EC2U Alliances’ values and is also in line with the JKU's international outlook.
