The traditional inaugural lectures took place at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Economics & Business on March 7.
 

Inaugural lectures at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Economics & Business took place in the Uni Center on March 7.

Prof. Dr. Barbara Krumay, Bakk. MSc (Vienna University of Economics & Business) (Institute of Business Informatics - Information Engineering) held her inaugural lecture titled "Privacy and Security Management in Times of Digitalization and Digital Transformation - Awareness and Understanding in Organisations".

Content: Digitization and digital transformation are phenomena that have not only changed individuals and our society, they have also greatly impacted organizations. While the use of new technologies and information systems have resulted in many opportunities, organizations also face an increasing number of challenges. In order to manage these challenges accordingly, academic findings reveal a need for greater awareness and understanding at the organization, as well as measures in place to consistently assess and update this level of awareness and understanding.

Prof. Dr. Cristina Olaverri-Monreal, MA (BMK Professorship and Chair of Sustainable Transportation Logistics 4.0., Institute of Production and Logistics Management) held her inaugural lecture titled "Vernetzung und Automatisierung im Transport". Content: When it comes to attaining climate neutrality, decisions in regard to logistics can play a key role. While adapting transportation systems and infrastructure are important when it comes to transport efficiency, a part of the technological aspects in regard to economic transformation are just as important. Prof. Olaverri-Monreal spoke about the way sensor-based digital technologies in the area of information and communication technologies can be applied in this context.
