Over 770 distinguished scholars from Austria and abroad - including several JKU scholars and researchers - form the Academy's cornerstone. These internationally renowned scholars are instrumental in fulfilling the Academy’s mission to support science and this is where AI pioneer Sepp Hochreiter (LIT AI Lab, JKU Institute of Machine Learning) can contribute his expertise as a corresponding member of the mathematics and natural sciences class.

Prof. Hochreiter is delighted at being elected and remarked: "I am very honored to be a member and I believe it also confirms the work that I and my team are doing here at the JKU to advance AI."

JKU Rector Stefan Koch congratulated Prof. Hochreiter: "Being admitted to the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW) is an exceptional honor, reflecting the importance of lifelong scholarly and academic accomplishments. On behalf of the JKU, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Prof. Hochreiter!"

Prof. Hochreiter and his team are currently working on xLSTM. Prof. Hochreiter commented: "We aim to revolutionize AI technology right here in the heart of Europe and challenge the dominance of transformer models."
