The JKU Faculty of Law: Two teams of two students each were assigned the task of drafting an appeal and an appeal response to the Supreme Court regarding a fictitious ruling by the Vienna High Regional Court and then presenting their appeals at an oral hearing. The proceedings focused on complex legal questions pertaining to business transfer law with reference to Union law.

The presentation took place in front of a distinguished jury chaired by the Senate President of the Higher Regional Court of Linz, iR Hofrat Dr. Klaus Henhofer. The expert lay judges, Walter Enzlberger and Peter Wolfratsbeger, were nominated by the Upper Austrian Chamber of Labor and the Upper Austrian Chamber of Commerce. As the Moot Court proceedings are a part of the university course for law students, Assoz.Univ-Prof. Barbara Födermayr and Univ-Prof. Elias Felten (both from the JKU) completed the jury.

Both teams impressively completed their tasks however, in the end, Lisa-Martina Köberl and Niklas Hofstätter were a bit more persuasive than the rest and will go on to represent the JKU at the national Moot Court finals on June 13 at the Vienna University of Economics and Business.
