Sophie N. Parragh is Head of the Institute of Production and Logistics Management at the Johannes Kepler University Linz. She received her PhD from the University of Vienna in 2009 and completed her habilitation in 2016. She worked as a postdoc fellow at the IBM Center for Advanced Studies in Porto and she was Visiting Professor at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU Wien). She was awarded the ÖGOR (Austrian Society for Operations Research) dissertation prize, the doc.award from the University of Vienna, and she obtained a Hertha Firnberg Postdoc fellowship from the Austrian Science Fund (FWF). She currently serves as program director of the master’s degree program Economic and Business Analytics. Sophie also serves as department editor at OR Spectrum and as associate editor at Transportation Science, Transportation Research Part B: Methodological, INFORMS Journal on Computing, and Networks. In 2021 and 2022, she co-organized the monthly VeRoLog webinar series: https://www.euro-online.org/websites/verolog/webinar/, opens an external URL in a new window
Sophie has been involved in several third-party funded applied and fundamental research projects in OR in health care, field staff routing and scheduling, production planning, electric vehicle routing and scheduling, and multi-objective combinatorial optimization (both as project leader/PI and project collaborator). Her main research focus is the development of exact and heuristic optimization algorithms. Currently, she is particularly interested in generic exact methods for multi-objective (mixed) integer linear programming, in emission-free vehicle routing, facility location, and short and medium term production planning under uncertainty.
