As part Upper Austria’s initiatives to support physicians who are actively involved in scholarly research alongside their role in medical care, Upper Austria and the Medical Society for Upper Austria annually present the renowned Prof. Walter Pilgerstorfer Award in recognition of outstanding scientific and scholarly achievements. Prof. Dr. Johannes Fischer, chairman of the Ethics Committee at the JKU Faculty of Medicine, was the recipient of this year’s award. Following opening remarks by Prof. Dr. Andreas Gruber (Assistant Dean of Research at the JKU Faculty of Medicine) during a festive awards ceremony, Univ. Doz. Prim. Dr. Andreas Shamiyeh (president of the Upper Austrian Medical Society) presented Prof. Fischer with the award.
