At the 36th annual ÖGUT Environmental Awards, Kompetenzzentrum Holz GmbH (Wood K plus) took home first place in the category "Research and Innovation to Support a Circular Economy". The "Susbind" project focuses on developing an organic-based adhesive designed to meet many industrial requirements, demonstrating a fundamental understanding of the way adhesive and wood-based material interact. As a result, the wood-based panel industry will be able to produce important wood-based composite panels in a shorter, more cost-saving time period, and without having to invest in new, expensive equipment. On account of the project’s success, Wood K plus served as a co-organizer of the ICWA (USA), one of the world's largest and most prestigious conferences on wood adhesives. In addition, the Kompetenzzentrum Holz is a leading international research center in the field of alternative adhesives.
