1. IK Unternehmerisches Handeln - Management (IK UHM)
In this intensive course, students have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge and expand their understanding of business models. They learn from concise theoretical inputs, diverse practical applications through case studies, group reflections, feedback sessions, and academic research. The practical application of what they learn is at the heart of this course, with a focus on tangible regional companies such as Bellaflora (gardening), Hargassner (heating), Boards&More (sports), Kastner (gingerbread), Neoom (energy storage), Sunnybags (solar), My Esel (bicycles), or Fischer Sports (skiing). Additionally, written reflections linking personal experiences to relevant literature and practical insights allow for a deeper exploration of selected management models.
What sets this intensive course apart is that all students have direct exposure to current entrepreneurial practices. They analyze real business models and develop concrete, realistic opportunities for innovation. These challenges enhance their ability to handle complexity, foster innovative, solution-oriented thinking, and prepare students directly for entrepreneurial practice.
One of the highlights of this intensive course is the pitch presentations of the results to members of the management teams. During these sessions, ideas for business model innovation are not only presented but also collectively assessed for their feasibility and practicality.
The IK UHM:
- Promotes essential interdisciplinary skills and qualifications.
- Encourages collaboration among students and shared learning (reflection).
- Bridges the gap between academic instruction and practical application (regional companies).
- Facilitates active participation, thereby fostering individual competency development.
- Is designed for interactive distance learning and in-person formats (Flipped Classroom).

2. Seminar „Interdisciplinary Business Project“
A special highlight in the Master's program in Management is the seminar "Interdisciplinary Business Project." This course offers students a unique opportunity to work on complex strategic questions with top regional companies (Fronius, Greiner, KEBA, and voestalpine).
The specific topics are developed by the companies every semester, targeting central strategic challenges. This provides students with the chance to apply their acquired strategic skills to address current issues. Ongoing support from representatives of the companies and Johannes Kepler University is available at every stage of the project, catering to the specific needs of each phase.
At the conclusion of the seminar, the solutions developed are presented in the presence of top management representatives from all participating companies. The invitation of our partners to their companies (e.g., during the kick-off workshop and final presentation) and a joint surprise event at the end of the semester add exciting elements to this course.
