The Austrian Mechanics Day 2024 (AMD2024) will be held at the Johannes Kepler University in Linz, Austria jointly with the Annual Meeting of the Austrian National Committee for Theoretical and Applied Mechanics. The Austrian National Committee for Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (www.iutam-austria.at, opens an external URL in a new window) is affiliated to the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW, www.oeaw.ac.at, opens an external URL in a new window) and the International Union of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (IUTAM, iutam.org, opens an external URL in a new window). It is intended as a networking platform for the university research activities in this scientific field. The members of the National Committee are professors from TU Wien, TU Graz, MU Leoben, JKU Linz, Universität Innsbruck and IST Austria.

The National Committee meets once a year to coordinate national and international activities and – since 2018 – to offer young researchers a platform for scientific exchange by joining its annual meeting with the Austrian Mechanics Day, which is organized as a one-day symposium on Modern Topics and Trends in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics. Moreover, a social dinner is organized to further strengthen the mechanics community in Austria.
