Austrian Mechanics Day 2024

Mechanics@JKU

In 1990 JKU introduced the world's first academic degree program in Mechatronics. With Mechanics being one of the cornerstones of Mechatronics, the Institute of Technical Mechanics (TMECH) was established in 1991 as the first Mechanics Institute at JKU. Since then, three more Mechanics Institutes, the Institute of Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer (ISW), the Institute of Robotics (ROBIN) and the Institute of Structural Lightweight Design (IKL) were founded together with the Department of Particulate Flow Modelling (PFM), forming the Mechanics Group at JKU. Mechanics@JKU teaches Mechanics in the study programs Mechatronics, Medical Engineering, Polymer Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, and covers a broad range of research in Mechanics. For more details visit the webpages of TMECH, ISW, ROBIN, IKL and PFM.
