Research at the Institute of Technical Mechanics is concerned with a broad spectrum of topics in theoretical and applied mechanics. These topics range from nonlinear continuum mechanics with particular emphasis on inelastic constitutive relations to axialy moving structures to multi-body dynamics and mechanisms to numerical and experimental mechanics. Besides purely mechanical problems the researchers at the institute also focus on the coupling of mechanics with other disciplines of physics, where they develop novel modeling approaches and numerical methods for coupled multi-field problems.
