Language Café - Hike - Camp Fire 

We would like to end the semester together. Take a little break from studying and join us to clear your head for a while.
We're starting with the Language Café in KHG gallery. 
Afterwards, we will meet in front of the IWC for a short walk (about 30 min to 1 hour) - please wear sturdy walking shoes as it may be a bit slippery. 
We'll end the day relaxing around a campfire and enjoying some small snacks.

Employment income is taxable in Austria. While you do not actively pay income tax, your employer is required to deduct the amount from your earnings. You may also have personal expenses considered to be tax deductible - but how do you know if you do or not?

Mauthausen, an unfathomably large concentration camp in Nazi Germany,  operated between August 1938 to May 1945, up until the camp was liberated by the Allies. In total, over 190,000 people were imprisoned in the Mauthausen concentration camp (or one of its many subcamps) over a seven-year period, and over 90,000 of them lost their lives there.

Schedule:
We will first watch a video, followed by a guided tour of the complex, learning important historical facts that should never be forgotten.
After the tour, we will go a traditional cider taverna & should return to Linz by approximately 6.30 PM.

Participants only pay a contribution of € 5 for the entire day (including bus transfers, tickets, and snacks). The fee will be collected in cash on the day of the excursion.

Bury Your Head in the Sound – in English

The "Bury Your Head in the Sound" workshop has been designed for international students in all majors, providing a platform to come together with peers and learn more about navigating distinct challenges international students may encounter.

Moving to a new country to study can be a daunting experience, often accompanied by unfamiliar surroundings, customs, and expectations. This workshop focuses primarily on easing the transition by improving stress management skills, helping to work out personal expectations and goals, and enriching cross-cultural skills.

A variety of exercises, guided discussions, and theoretical input provide support to learn how to effectively and independently manage one's life in a new country. Music is a universal language, serving as a foundation as part of certain exercises. However, you don't need a musical background to take part in this workshop.

It's no secret that we humans need sleep. We need our sleep to be able to function well - both mentally and physically - and to support our memory, to recover, and to build up our immune system. However, one in five people has trouble sleeping.
Many people do not sleep well, or have trouble falling asleep and staying asleep, or experience nightmares. This workshop is an opportunity to better understand your own sleep patterns and control the factors that influence your quality of sleep. We would like to extend an invitation to attend the workshop to those who wish to learn more about sleep, and as well as those experiencing sleep issues.

Afterwards, we will take the vintage train back to Steyr to soak up the festive atmosphere, share holiday cookies, and sing your favourite Christmas carols on the train.

Mauthausen was a massive, active concentration camp as part of the Third Reich in Austria between August 1938 to May 1945. The camp was liberated by the Allies in 1945. Over the seven-year period, over 190,000 people were imprisoned at the Mauthausen concentration camp and its subcamps; over 90,000 people lost their lives there.

A guide will take us through the entire complex to learn more about important historical facts that should never be forgotten.

After the guided tour, we will go to a traditional cider taverna. We are scheduled to be back in Linz by approximately 4:00 PM.
