Vision

Globalisation, digitalisation, sustainability, and international security…

…to name just some of the pressing issues of the 21st century affecting states and individuals alike. Current armed conflicts are also a forceful reminder that peace and frictionless cooperation can and must not be taken for granted.

Such international cooperation requires a framework which allows and facilitates collective action in various forms. Not only addressing today’s challenges but also the functioning of several aspects of daily life depend on a reliable and stable system. Public International Law intends to provide it.

But what is Public International Law?

It is predominantly defined as the body of legal rules and principles or standards that govern relations between sovereign states inter se and other accepted subjects of Public International Law, such as international organisations.

The system paves the way to a global and concerted effort to tackle issues that no single nation can master alone.

Our contribution is to enable students to see and understand the role of public international law as well as its imperative in facing today’s challenges in a coordinated global effort. Our publications contribute to the international academic debate.

„Liberty is the power that we have over ourselves.“
