Best Paper Award at SAM 2024 Conference

At the 16th System Analysis and Modelling (SAM) Conference, held in conjunction with the MODELS 2024 conference in Linz, Bianca Wiesmayr, David Hästbacka and Alois Zoitl were awarded the Best Paper Award for their paper, titled ‘Modeling Service Choreographies and Collaborative Tasks for Autonomous Mixed-Fleet Systems’. The award was given by the SDL Forum Society after the paper was selected based on a combination of peer review results and the quality of the presentation.

Their contribution deals with the complex coordination of mixed fleets of autonomous and human-operated vehicles. In their work, they developed an event-based architecture and discussed how this can be mapped in various modeling languages, such as BPMN, IEC 61499 and SysML. Which language is the best? “It depends,” answers Bianca. ”None is perfect for our use case, but hopefully everyone can implement the approach with their favorite language based on the concepts and examples described.”

“I am happy that this paper was honored, as it shows how well scientific collaborations work. David visited us for a month and worked with our team,” adds Alois about the successful cooperation with Tampere University, opens an external URL in a new window.

Congratulations to Bianca Wiesmayr, David Hästbacka and Alois Zoitl for this achievement! We are proud of you.
