Felix Mayr was presented with the award in recognition of his outstanding Master's thesis titled "Optical Characterization of Organic and Perovskite Semiconductors by Photothermal Deflection Spectroscopy" written at the Linz Institute for Organic Solar Cells/Institute of Physical Chemistry under the academic supervision of Assoz. Prof. Markus Scharber. The graduate thesis focuses on using photothermal deflection spectroscopy, a technique in which material light absorption is measured by increasing the temperature. The goal is to characterize the light absorption of organic semiconductors for thin film solar cells as delicately as possible and determine the perovskite nanocrystals’ fluorescence quantum efficiency.

The GÖCH’s annual award is presented in support of the field of chemistry. Awards are presented to Diploma degree theses and dissertations written by GÖCH members studying chemistry at an Austrian university (including teacher training programs in chemistry) and graded with "very good".
