Which content can OA articles be published?
For subscription journals that have an OA publishing option (= hybrid) by Elsevier and Cell Press as well as gold open access journals by Elsevier, Cell Press and Lancet.
What types of articles will be accepted?
Elsevier, Cell Press Gold und Lancet Gold: Full-length articles, review articles
Cell Press Hybrid: Full-length articles, review articles, short communications
What licenses are available?
CC-BY 4.0, CC-BY-NC-ND 4.0.

Which authors will be accepted?
Corresponding authors affiliated with JKU at the time of submission.
How are the authors identified?
By entering the institution (JKU).
Are FWF articles covered?
Yes, up until the end of 2026.
Are authors subject to any costs or fees?
No. There are no costs or fees for Open Access publishing in hybrid or gold open access journals.
What is the workflow process for authors?
Once accepted, eligible authors can view the author dashboard to select whether or not they would like to publish Open Access. At this point, select JKU as your institution. The library or the Austrian Science Fund (providing funding is available) will then receive the application as confirmation.
Please note: The date of submission is pivotal in regard to this agreement!
For a free publication in Gold OA journals, Articles submitted after January 1, 2021 are eligible.
A submission date of Jan. 1, 2022, applies to free publications in Cell Press hybrid journals.
