Thomas Tschoellitsch

Thomas Tschoellitsch is the project lead at the Medical Cognitive Computing Center (MC^3) at the Kepler University Hospital and at the JKU's Faculty of Medicine. MC^3 explores and develops artificial intelligence projects focused on intensive care medicine, anesthesia and emergency medicine as well as patient safety. Recent work includes the rapid detection of COVID-19 without PCR testing, patient risk assessment in the emergency room, patient deterioration, risk prediction for patient discharge at ICUs, and preventing adverse transfusion responses.


His research interests include machine learning regarding early warning strategies and preventative measures, improving medical diagnosis, and treating with sparse data, image and video analysis, critical care medicine, resuscitation and innovative educational methods.

Dr. Tschoellitsch is a specialist in anesthesiology and intensive care medicine, an emergency physician, and a general practitioner. He teaches at universities as well as at various post-secondary educational institutions across Europe.
