Open Innovation in Science.

The PhD Fellowship Program

This exclusive PhD Fellowship Program in cooperation with the Ludwig Boltzmann Society provides PhD candidates with support in methodology and up to € 5,000 to help fund your dissertation.

To directly benefit society through research and, at the same time, increase research output, bringing academia and science together with the wider community is essential. In the future, when it comes to addressing the complexity of today's challenges, grasping them in their entirety, and generating new innovations that add value to society, expertise beyond the academic realm will be more important than ever before. Open Innovation in Science refers to opening up research processes to the community and increasing the impact research has on the community. In cooperation with the Ludwig Bolzmann Society, the JKU is pursuing this ides with the Open Innovation in Science Impact Lab "The Future We Want!" initiative.

The Fellowship Program aims to support PhD candidates in opening up their research to a wider community and apply the Open Innovation in Science approach to their individual dissertation. We would like to encourage active citizen involvement as part of the research process. The Fellows benefit from support in methodology, etc. provided by experienced mentors at the Ludwig Boltzmann Society, a maximum of € 5,000 in financial support (to, for example, conduct workshops, attend conferences, for dissertation material...), and opportunities to attend a series of workshops and networking events.

The program is open to all doctoral candidates in any major enrolled in a PhD program at the JKU, and in any year of their degree program.
