Insight into a new way of conducting research by bringing academia/science together with the wider community.
In order for society to benefit directly from research and to support higher research output at universities, bringing academia / science together with the wider community is essential. When it comes to addressing the complexity of today's challenges, grasping these concepts in their entirety, and generating new innovation that adds value to society, expertise beyond academia will be more important in the future than ever before. Open Innovation in Science refers to opening up research processes to the community and increasing the impact research has on the community. In cooperation with the Ludwig Bolzmann Society, the JKU is pursuing this ides with the Open Innovation in Science Impact Lab "The Future We Want!" initiative.
This elective course is aimed at students in all majors who are interested in learning about this new type of research that partners with participants from outside of the academic/scientific community. Taught by experts, students not only acquire insight into theoretical principles, they learn about real-world applications and apply universal methods to help support and execute processes when working with different types of people.
