In solidarity with the Ukrainian people, we would like to help Ukrainian students.
The WIST Heim is a student residence that provides housing in Linz (Austria). The WIST Heim can offer free student housing starting today until the end of August for 15 Ukrainian students who want to begin to study or continue their studies at Johannes Kepler University Linz (JKU). The rooms will be available for longer, but we cannot guarantee that the accommodation will continue to be for free after August (though we will try to find funding partners).
The JKU has a MORE program, opens an external URL in a new window that supports students with a refugee background in finding German courses, accessing public transport, accommodation, and other concerns. JKU leadership and administration will take the refugee situation into account in the admissions process (e.g., if certain documents such as a GMAT certificate cannot be presented due to the special circumstances, students may still be admitted to a given program if they are considered suitable candidates).
The JKU offers a variety of English-speaking programs, opens an external URL in a new window. New programs typically start in October, but students are likely to be able to visit courses already during the summer term. The Master's degree program Leading Innovative Organizations, opens an external URL in a new window starts with a summer school in July and runs for one year.
If you are interested, please fill out this Google form, opens an external URL in a new window where we ask for your contact details, study background, and whether you need assistance to get to Linz.
For questions, please contact thomas.gegenhuber(at)jku.at via email.
We know our help offer is not a lot, but we hope it helps a bit.

(Professor at JKU and board member of the WIST Heim)
UPDATE March 10th
The capacity for free accommodations at the WIST student dormitory is currently full. We have a waiting list. But a civil society group organized by Thomas Gegenhuber works on finding room to accommodate more students (e.g. we are in touch with other student housing providers or hope to find rooms in trusted private apartments). So please fill out the aforementioned form - we will do our best to find more space.
