The new college will focus on developing future-oriented energy, mobility, health, and climate products.
Almost every technical device contains electronics based systems (EBS); they are the backbone of digitization, making the development of future-oriented energy, mobility, health, climate and security products and processes all the more important. However, top innovative research also requires top, innovative researchers. SAL Doctoral College (SAL-DC) - a new type of doctoral program for top scientists of tomorrow - is under development. Initiated by Silicon Austria Labs together with the JKU Linz, TU Graz and the University of Klagenfurt, up to 50 doctoral candidates will work on innovative EBS technologies designed to strengthen the Austrian EBS ecosystem. 13 institutes at the three universities with different research topics are involved. The program is diverse, ranging from machine learning and wireless real-time communication to mmWave technologies and artificial intelligence. Top scientists and renowned university professors engage in lively exchanges and collaboration efforts while doctoral students are given the opportunity to conduct research as part of an interdisciplinary and international team. Depending on the selected topic, research will take place at either one of the three SAL locations (Graz, Linz, Villach), or at one of the partner universities. Those interested in applying to SAL-DC may submit an application by June 3, 2020.
