The JKU Institute for Financial Law, Tax Law, and Tax Policy and the JKU Institute for Business Taxation organized the 2024 VAT Conference in November, addressing how VAT impacts business decisions, especially within an increasingly complex regulated environment. The conference focused on key issues such as the business perspective, technically implementing VAT, tax exemption for inner-community deliveries, the standard value, and challenges facing many SMEs.

The discussion focused particularly on pitfalls associated with cross-border services, corporate due diligence, cross-border trade for services, and current ViDA-related developments. The discussion pointed out the need to review legislative measures in terms of practicality and help companies manage the complexities as opposed to further complicating matters.

The conference generated fascinating momentum and practical insight among experts in law, within the business community, and in academia.
